Troop 119 Joining Information
REGISTRATION: Obtain and fill out a Boy Scout Application Form. Give it along with your registration money to the Committee Chair for processing.
DUES: Currently we do not charge any monthly or yearly dues. Youth membership includes registration with the Boy Scouts and a subscription to Boys Life Magazine. Yearly registration is done at
re-charter time, usually in November
ITEMS REQUIRED: The Troop provides each new scout the “Scout Hand Book”. Each scout is expected to purchase a Scout Shirt and Scout hat. These items can be purchased at the Golden Empire office
in Sacramento (www.gecbsa.org) or from BSA via online catalog (scoutstuff.org). The troop has a good supply of used uniforms the boys can have free of charge if they fit.
UNIFORM: The Troop Official Uniform consists of:
· Official Scout Hat
· Official Scout Shirt ( long or short sleeve)
· Shoes
· Scout pants, belt and scout socks
· Insignia – The following insignia’s are needed ( Provided by Troop )
o Golden Empire Council shoulder patch
o 119 Troop numbers
o Forest green shoulder loops
o Neckerchief and Slide
MEETINGS: We meet each Monday from 7:00 to 8:30pm at Horizon Community Church located at 446 Fairway Dr across from the McDonalds parking lot.
OUTINGS: The troop schedules one outing each month. Some are day outings, but most are overnight camping. The costs range from less than $10 to around $30. Summer camp (in July)
is approximately $350.
FUNDRAISERS: The scouts can also offset the costs of outings by working at numerous fundraising events such as the Lion’s Crab Feed, our Christmas tree lot and by parents working the Lion’s
fireworks booth in July. Some activities require parent participation, as the scouts are not allowed to work the tree lot by themselves or work in the fireworks booth. The scouts are paid
so much per shift worked, depending on the net profits at the end of the activity. This money can be used by the scout to help cover the cost of outings, summer camp and personal gear.
YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING: Youth protection is the No. 1 concern of the BSA. Youth protection training is required for all registered volunteers. Youth Protection Training must be taken every
two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection Training record is not current at the time of re-charter, the volunteer will not be reregistered.
